In My Daughter’s Eyes (IMDE) is a real-time sentiment analysis application that reads the emotional DNA of any text as you write it — no uploads, no waiting, no data leaving your browser. Every word is scored against a lexicon of over 30,000 entries, with full negation awareness so phrases like “not happy” and “couldn’t be better” are understood the way a human reader would understand them.
The analysis surfaces an overall sentiment score, a seven-emotion landscape, sentence-by-sentence polarity badges, a word-level contribution heatmap, and phrase-level breakdowns that show exactly which words are driving the tone and why. It also detects profanity and applies a graduated sentiment penalty, flags passive voice and hedge language, and measures readability at the Flesch-Kincaid grade level — all computed locally, in real time, with every keystroke.
Beyond raw scoring, IMDE gives writers and communicators a richer picture of their language through five analytical lenses: a tone formality scorer that distinguishes Colloquial from Formal writing based on contraction rate, vocabulary sophistication, and marker density; a pronoun distribution chart that maps the self-versus-other-versus-collective balance of the text; a sentiment velocity tracker that shows how quickly emotional tone rises or falls across the arc of a piece; an emotional word density meter that cross-references charged language against reading complexity; and a certainty and confidence index that weighs assertive terms against hedges to tell you whether the writing reads as Confident, Measured, Uncertain, or Speculative.
